Terms
The short version: you buy Foldy once, it is yours, and if you do not like it you get your money back for 14 days.
Last updated 11 September 2026
Refunds, plainly. Within 14 days of buying Foldy, email hey@foldy.fun and you get a full refund. No reason needed, no questions. Your licence stops working afterwards, which is the only catch.
What you are buying
Foldy is a macOS app. One payment of $4.99 buys a licence to use it on one Mac that you own or control, for as long as you like. It is not a subscription; there is nothing to cancel and nothing that expires.
Updates to Foldy are included at no extra cost. If a future version ever becomes a separate paid product, your licence for this one keeps working.
Who sells it
Foldy is made by an independent developer. Payments are taken by Polar, who act as the merchant of record — they are the seller on your receipt, they handle the payment and any tax, and their terms cover that transaction: polar.sh/legal/terms.
Your licence key
After paying you land on a page showing your licence key and your Bubble Translate code. Polar also emails you a receipt with the key on it, so it is not lost if you close the tab. Please do not publish it or pass it around: the key is what makes it possible to sell a $4.99 app without ads or a subscription.
A key stops working if it is refunded, or if it turns up in public. If yours stops working and you think that is a mistake, write to me — I would much rather fix it than leave you stuck.
Changed Mac, or reinstalled and the key will not take? Email me and I will free the activation.
Bubble Translate
Buying Foldy also gets you a code for three months of Bubble Translate 4, free. It is a separate app; the code is issued with your licence key and redeemed in the App Store — open it, click your name, then Redeem Gift Card. It is a gift alongside your purchase, not part of what you paid for — if the promotion ends or a code fails to arrive, your Foldy licence is unaffected, though I will still try to sort the code out.
What Foldy needs to run
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
- An Apple silicon MacBook with a lid angle sensor — every model since 2020, plus the 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro.
- Screen Recording permission, or it folds your wallpaper instead.
If your Mac is not on that list, Foldy will not work properly, and that is what the refund is for. Check before you buy if you are unsure — just ask.
What I do not promise
Foldy is a visual effect for closing your laptop lid. It is provided as it is. I test it and I fix what breaks, but I cannot promise it will be free of bugs, or that a future macOS release will not change something Foldy relies on — it reads a hardware sensor and draws above every other window, both of which Apple can change without asking me.
If a macOS update ever breaks Foldy for good, and it cannot be fixed, write to me. To the extent the law allows, my liability is limited to what you paid; nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Fair use
Do not decompile Foldy, strip its licence check, or redistribute it. Do not resell it. Everything else — using it, showing it off, filming it — is fine and encouraged.
If something changes
These terms may be updated; the date above will change and the old wording stays in the site's git history. An update never changes the terms of a purchase you already made.
